Focusing on the Future of Parks

The Cranberry community desires even better parks and green spaces - and the Township is happy to oblige.

The Board of Supervisors on March 28 entered into two contracts with Herbert Rowland & Grubic Inc. to complete a Greenways Study and a Community Park Court Complex Plan.

Results from the recently completed Comprehensive Recreation, Parks, and Open Space Plan indicated the community desires improved trails and connectivity between the existing preserved opens spaces throughout the Township. It also indicated improvements are needed to the court complex within Community Park.

The Greenways Study will assess existing greenspace, natural landscapes, and other biological resource areas for their potential to be developed in a connected greenways network, with the intention of preserving open space for recreation, non-motorized connectivity, and environmental protection.

The Community Park Court Complex Plan & Construction Documents will identify needed improvements to the existing tennis courts, basketball court, and sand volleyball courts as well as the development of two pickleball courts, expansion/realignment of parking, improvements to ADA parking and accessible routes, upgrades to the existing restrooms, and lighting.
