CoR Stakeholder Consultation on 'Promotion of Roots Tourism for Sustainable Local Revitalisation'

​​The European Committee of the Regions is currently drafting its own initiative opinion on "Promotion of Roots Tourism for Sustainable Local Revitalisation".

The agreed timetable for the adoption of the opinion is:

• First discussion and adoption of the draft opinion at the NAT meeting on 14/06/2024;
  
• Adoption at the plenary session of 7-8/10/2024.

Our rapporteur Giuseppe Varacalli (IT/Renew Europe), city councilor of the Gerace Municipality (RC) would like to gather the views of key stakeholders on this important topic.

This CoR own-initiative opinion is seeking to enable local and regional authorities to make a contribution to the design of the future legislative framework tailored to their needs and expectations.

On May 13th 2024, from 10.30 until 12, the secretariat of the Commission for Natural Resources (NAT) and the rapporteur organised a Stakeholder Consultation on the topic. The event aimed at collecting as many views and experiences as possible on the topic of Root Tourism by relevant stakeholders and regional/local representations.​
