Security Health Plan investments in communities reach more than 66,500 people in 2021

Security Health Plan of Wisconsin has released its most recent report of community investments for 2021-2022: Taking Care: A Community Investment. As a not-for-profit organization, Security Health Plan is focused on helping people and communities achieve their best health. The report highlights a few of the ways Security Health Plan achieved that goal last year.

In 2021, Security Health Plan invested more than $400,000 in community partnerships within 42 counties in the Health Plan's service area. The investments focus on four top community health priorities known as the ABCS:

• Alcohol and other substance use
• Behavioral health
• Chronic disease
• Social determinants of health.

By focusing on these areas of need, Security Health Plan reached over 66,500 people to make measurable improvements on health within communities it serves.

"As a not-for-profit health plan, we not only provide high-quality health insurance to our customers, we invest in services that improve the health of communities around our service area, reaching most of Wisconsin," said Chief Executive Officer of Security Health Plan Krista Hoglund. "It is important for us to address health and social issues in our communities beyond the traditional health care system. We support local community-based organizations that address issues such as food insecurity, behavioral health risks, and other issues. By reaching people through these local organizations, we can have a greater impact on people's quality of life."

Over the past year, Security Health Plan supported programs to reduce food insecurity, increase access to health care, help the emotional well-being of schoolchildren, and improve health literacy.
