SPIE supports digital transformation at the American Hospital of Paris

Malakoff, 27 March 2024 - SPIE ICS, a French digital services company and subsidiary of SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, is supporting the American Hospital of Paris in implementing new digital practices for careworkers, patients and cross-divisional functions. The foundations of this transformation are based on advice, integration, maintenance and IT managed services of new digital infrastructure. In this way, the American Hospital of Paris is improving the resilience and scalability of its IT systems, while also keeping its data secure. Winning these various contracts demonstrates the ability of the SPIE ICS teams to offer innovative and secure solutions for a healthcare establishment.

The American Hospital of Paris is a not-for-profit organisation and multi-disciplinary healthcare establishment accredited by both the US-based Joint Commission[1]and the French Health Authority. The hospital places service quality at the heart of its practices and places great value on the confidentiality and availability of data in its patient care. Information systems play a key role in the challenges posed by these two issues.

Better infrastructure resilience

The American Hospital of Paris wants to redesign its storage and virtualisation infrastructure to increase capacity and redundancy. The SPIE ICS teams recommended a solution based on HPE and Pure Storage technology, which will enable system security and resilience to be strengthened, while also simplifying administration. In addition to these two technologies,
SPIE ICS added in a new system to protect the hospital against ransomware. This complete solution won over the hospital's IT department, which valued the global expertise in terms of datacentre infrastructure offered by SPIE ICS.

After this initial integration, the hospital once again turned to the SPIE ICS teams to strengthen security in relation to data. SPIE ICS worked to secure the backup of IT environments (production and Microsoft 365) deploying the Rubrik solution.

Development of IT managed services for 1,400 user stations at the hospital

SPIE ICS was also chosen for IT managed services at the American Hospital of Paris. Its response, entirely tailor-made, is based on a global solution involving a Service Desk[2] and a local service, Knowledge Management[3], and governance focused on patient and healthcare professionals' satisfaction. Since June 2023, a dedicated team of nine SPIE ICS technicians has been working at the American Hospital of Paris, implementing new tools and processes to accelerate the digital transformation.

SPIE ICS continues to support the American Hospital of Paris with a 140-day remediation mission, launched at the end of 2023, the aim of which is to implement the governance recommendations from a previous cyber security audit.

"We are thrilled to be supporting the American Hospital of Paris in its constant pursuit of excellence. Our collaboration, from the advisory phase to IT managed services, allows our respective teams to quickly implement innovative solutions for the benefit for patients and staff at the American Hospital of Paris,"explained Yann Chalhoub, Director of the Data Services & Solutions business unit at SPIE ICS.

"Our hospital is delighted with the partnership with SPIE ICS, which covers key areas such as managed services, the implementation of robust solutions, cyber solutions, cyber resilience and day-to-day support, including cyber security and knowledge base management. Operational excellence is a priority for the American Hospital of Paris and the deployment of innovative digital solutions is, of course, part of this. Working with SPIE ICS will enable us to improve the comfort of our users and the satisfaction of our patients," commented Adrien Bournat, Chief Technology Officer at the American Hospital of Paris.
