SEMO Hosts Sesquicentennial Ball to Celebrate 150 Years & Support Student Scholarships

Southeast Missouri State University will host a Sesquicentennial Ball on Saturday, April 6, 2024 to raise funds for student scholarships as part of the University's Transforming Lives comprehensive campaign. This grand event will take place at the Show Me Center, at 6 p.m. with a social hour, followed by dinner and entertainment at 7 p.m. and dancing beginning at 9 p.m.

"This event commemorates SEMO's rich history and vibrant future, highlighting its significant impact on students, alumni, and community members," said Wendell Snodgrass, vice president of University Advancement and executive director of the Southeast Missouri University Foundation. "We're thrilled to gather the entire SEMO community for an evening that celebrates our past, present, and future."

The event promises a blend of fine cuisine, entertainment from SEMO's talented students, and the company of fellow SEMO supporters. The evening also includes:

  • Presentation of the University's highest honor, the Friend of the University award to J. David Blakemore.
  • A live auction and contributions to the Fund a Redhawk campaign to support scholarships for current and future students, ensuring Southeast continues transforming lives.
  • A high-energy show and dancing, courtesy of St. Louis-based band Dirty Muggs.

Guests are invited to celebrate Southeast Missouri State University's sesquicentennial milestone and what's to come with an unforgettable weekend of commemoration and community.

Alumni Eggsclipse Brunch

Following the festivities, an Alumni Eggsclipse Brunch at Century Casino will be held on Sunday, April 7. The brunch will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Century Casino's Beacon 53 restaurant. Tickets for adults are $28, with children aged 12 and under priced at $15.
