Initiative to open Interpol Regional Bureau in Belgrade launched

The Ministry of the Interior stated that it launched an initiative to open a Regional Bureau of Interpol in Belgrade, which was adopted by the Serbian government at today's session, with the aim of strengthening regional cooperation and preserving security.

The formation of the Regional Bureau of this important international organisation, which gathers 196 member states, would make a significant contribution to improving quality and intensifying regional cooperation through the exchange of information, but also promoting a global response to regional security threats.

Also, its establishment would contribute to greater visibility and representation of the region in the General Secretariat of Interpol.

Serbia is one of the founders of Interpol, and the reliability of our police in that organisation is highly valued, and the National Central Bureau of Interpol Belgrade is among the top ten in the world in terms of achieved results.

The jurisdiction of the Regional Bureau of Interpol in Belgrade, which would be the seventh in the world, would include the countries of Southeast Europe and, in addition to the headquarters of this international police organisation in Lyon, it would be the only one on the European continent.
