Hospital da Luz Coimbra established protocol to support the region's Fluvial Club.

Hospital da Luz supports Clube Fluvial de Coimbra (CFC) with equipment for the practise of canoeing, having already offered a C1 canoe. The protocol was recently signed between the hospital's manager, Pedro Beja Afonso, and the president of the club, Sérgio Bento.

Clube Fluvial de Coimbra:

  • Was born in 1989, as a non-profit sports and cultural association, having for main goals the promotion of canoeing and athlete training, as well as the organization of sports events.
  • It is the most representative club in the district of Coimbra, with around 100 athletes, several national titles and the participation in the major international competitions, including the presence in the National Team.

"Despite being a club largely dedicated to completion (in its many forms: Sprint, Kayak-Polo, Kayak-Surf, and Leisure), CFC has developed varied programs over the years, either in partnership with the Faculty of Sports Sciences and Physical Education, of Coimbra University, either in cooperation with Coimbra Municipality organizing sporting holidays and other activities related with the city", explained Sérgio Bento, expressing his gratitude for the connexion established with Hospital da Luz. "The signing of this protocol is another important step in CFC evolution, since it fosters the improvement of the material conditions for our athletes, in this case with a C1 canoe, which will clearly make a difference in the fight for medals", he added.

"This partnership pursues our goals of supporting the practise of sport in the community.CFC promotes the practise of canoeing and has obtained remarkable results at national level. This commitment with the club allows athletes to continue competing for more medals, also contributing to make the practise of sports more accessible to everyone. As a social responsible organization, we are also promotors of healthy lifestyles", stated, on its turn, Pedro Beja Afonso.
