NOFD Suppresses Two-Alarm Fire in the 7900 Block of Earhart St.

On Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 2:08 a.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) responded to a call reporting a fire at the corner of Earhart Blvd. and Fern St. The first NOFD unit arrived on the scene at 2:12 a.m., finding a single-story commercial building (7901 Earhart Blvd) already heavily involved in fire. The fire involved the corner unit (The Hidden Vault) of a multi-unit retail building and threatened to extend in both directions, prompting the call for a second alarm at 2:12 a.m.

After extensively searching to make sure the fire hadn't extended to other businesses, through common walls and attic spaces, the NOFD placed this incident under control at 3:00 a.m. The other businesses housed by this building received varying degrees of smoke and water damage, but NOFD Fire Operations personnel were able to keep the fire mostly contained to the area of origin. NOFD Fire Investigators are currently working to determine the cause of this very suspicious fire. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries reported.
