Roae Condemns Democrat Majority for Abysmal Waste of Time and Resources

Apr. 29, 2024

HARRISBURG - Today, House Republican State Government Committee Chairman Brad Roae (R-Crawford/Erie) condemned the constant time-wasting efforts of Democrats in Harrisburg.

During a meeting of the full House State Government Committee on Monday, April 29, the Democrat majority chair called up a vote on four separate resolutions. They were voted out of committee and will be considered by the entire body of the House, which could come as early as this week if Democrat Speaker of the House Joanna McClinton calls them up for votes.

House Resolution 385 would name April 18 as Erie Day, a vote taken 11 days after the date. In the nick of time, with just two days left in the month, there was a vote for House Resolution 381, which retroactively would name April to be Volunteer Month. Roae said the lack of timely consideration is a slap in the face to volunteers across the Commonwealth, and the great city and county of Erie.

With House Resolution 365, May would be deemed Jewish American Heritage Month, but only after anti-Catholic Lewis Charles Levin's name needed to be removed through amendment. The committee also voted to make May Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, even though it was not listed on the public website to be considered.

"The complete lack of transparency and discernment for timely legislation by the majority party in Harrisburg is a disservice to the people of the Commonwealth," Roae said. "The Democrat majority has spent their time wasting that of Pennsylvanians."
