DRAFT Burra Trail Signage Concept

Published 29th April 2024
The signage strategy will help promote the Council with a consistent message through the style of the signs. It explores the style and design of signs as well as the type and placement.

Council is now seeking community feedback regarding the Draft Burra Trail Signage Strategy developed by Propeller Design & Swanbury Penglase.

This project has been funded by the Commonwealth Government's Australian Heritage Grants Program.

The signage strategy will help promote the Council with a consistent message through the style of the signs. It explores the style and design of signs as well as the type and placement.

It will be first introduced as part of a proposed Burra Heritage Walking Trails , highlighting many of the Cornish Mining Sites that make up the Burra Heritage Passport, to enhance the visitor's heritage tourism experience. The signs will complement the new signage strategy also being developed at the Moonta Mines providing connectivity between the two places in preparation for the joint Australian Cornish Mining Sites: Burra and Moonta World Heritage listing.

The signage strategy will -
Improve the consistency, readability, placement, accessibility, and connectivity of signage;
Make the Burra Cornish Mining heritage attractions and sites easier to navigate;
Connect visitors to the sites through storytelling;
Increase and improve walking/cycling connectivity to build on the visitor experience ;
Promote other local attractions and facilities;
Prioritise investment and improve efficiencies in managing signage resources.
