It’s coming home! – Leatherhead resident, aged 80, fulfills wish of returning to football game

A Leatherhead care home resident went on a trip down memory lane at his local team's home ground.

Team members at Care UK's Milner House, on Ermyn Way, arranged a surprise trip to Leatherhead Football Club for resident, Raymond Old.

The team at Milner House contacted the club after Raymond expressed his wish of going behind the scenes of his hometown football grounds. The club kindly offered Raymond the full VIP treatment, including a private tour around the pitch and an opportunity to meet and greet the players.

Michele Message, Home Manager at Milner House, said: "We always like to go the extra mile for residents here at Milner House, and make their wishes come true - no matter how small or unusual. Raymond speaks so fondly of the many years he's spent supporting Leatherhead Football Club, so we were really excited to be able to make his wish of returning to the ground for a special tour after so many years come true.

"Raymond was thrilled when we surprised him with the visit, and he was so excited to be back at Leatherhead's home ground - even making his way onto the pitch. It was fantastic to see Raymond enjoying the visit, and we were pleased to be able to give him the opportunity to reminisce at a place that has meant so much to him since his childhood."

Milner House care home provides full-time residential, dementia, nursing and short-term respite care. The home, which features 46 ensuite bedrooms, has been designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence. The care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities and includes its own hair salon and beautiful gardens.
