Infant Immunization Week

The DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) is joining public health agencies and medical partners to observe National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW) from April 22-29.

NIIW highlights the importance of protecting infants and young children two years and younger from vaccine-preventable diseases such as whooping cough (pertussis), chickenpox, measles, mumps, and rubella, all of which pose significant threats to the health of our children and the well-being of our community. Throughout this week, DCHD urges families to schedule their children's well-child visits and follow the childhood routinely recommended vaccination schedule.

Childhood immunizations are available at DCHD through the Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program for children without insurance, with insurance that doesn't include immunizations, or those eligible for Medicaid. The VFC Program helps eligible children receive vaccines at no cost and follows the recommended immunization schedule. Serving as one of the nation's most important contributors to health equity, the VFC Program helps ensure that all children have a better chance of getting their recommended vaccinations on schedule and staying healthy.

Additional VFC providers can be found through the VFC Provider Search. For more information about the VFC Program, please contact DCHD at (630) 682-7400.
