The anti-Israel protests erupt

Here is a link to Fox News' continually-updated coverage of the anti-Israel protests erupting in such bastions of allegedly enlightened liberalism as New York University, Columbia University and Harvard.

And even California State Polytechnic University, where you'd think students might be smarter than NYU liberal arts majors…

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/mattvespa/2024/04/23/insane-pro-hamas-college-students-barricade-themselves-inside-a-building-in-california-n2638144

The latest: When police tried to disperse protesters at NYU, some turned violent and started throwing bottles, resulting in mass arrests, and it's about time (but does anyone want to venture a guess as to how many minutes they'll spend behind bars? Or if they've already been released?)

https://redstate.com/bobhoge/2024/04/23/nypd-shows-up-in-riot-gear-at-nyu-arrests-dozens-of-pro-hamas-extremists-n2173177

NYU officials issued a mealy-mouthed statement saying that while they support students' right to protest, these protests were "considerably disruptive of classes and other operations in schools around the plaza." They claim that people they believe are not affiliated with NYU joined the protest, and "We witnessed disorderly, disruptive, and antagonizing behavior that has interfered with the safety and security of our community, and that demonstrated how quickly a demonstration can get out of control or people can get hurt."

Yes, that tends to happen when a violent mob of idiots is chanting "Death to Israel and America," attacking cops, threatening Jewish students, tearing down and burning American flags and screaming their allegiance to the bloody, murderous terrorists of Hamas. You know: a "mostly peaceful protest."

One Jewish student at Columbia said these thugs were yelling in their faces to "Go back to Poland," the kind of shocking behavior you'd expect to see in pre-war Germany, and certainly nothing we ever imagined we'd see in America, especially on the campuses of our so-called "elite" universities.

At other campuses, out of concern for student safety, Harvard has closed Harvard Yard, and Columbia will do remote classes for the rest of the season. Seems like it would be simpler to arrest the violent, pro-terrorist thugs and expel (and where possible, deport) them. But maybe they've deemed that too expensive, if you consider how many of them are the spoiled offspring of well-to-do alumni, or even (allegedly) of faculty members.

But shielding them might turn out to be a costly decision in more ways than one. New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft announced that he's pulling all his support from his alma mater, Columbia, calling it "no longer an institution I recognize." I'm sure he's not the only donor who was shocked to discover what his donations were financing.

Meanwhile, Columbia's Jewish Alumni Association has joined calls for university president Minouche Shafik to resign for not doing enough to protect Jewish students...

https://nypost.com/2024/04/22/us-news/columbia-jewish-alumni-demand-firing-of-president-shafik-for-failing-to-protect-students-on-campus/

On the other hand, some Columbia professors want Shafik to resign for calling the cops on the poor little "peaceful" pro-Hamas protesters. These should be ex-professors, but don't count on that happening…

https://freebeacon.com/campus/columbia-professors-declare-solidarity-with-student-protesters-and-call-for-shafiks-resignation/

…Even though Columbia barred a Jewish professor from the campus for trying to lead a pro-Jewish rally.

https://nypost.com/2024/04/22/us-news/columbia-professor-and-outspoken-israel-supporter-shai-davidai-says-hes-been-barred-from-the-main-campus/

So, if you're a parent of a college-age child, what can you possibly do with your kid and your money that doesn't involve risking warping your kid's mind or subsidizing people who call for the murder of Jews? Mike Rowe has a very good suggestion…

Related: Here's how bad the anti-Semitism has become in upper crust, liberal circles. Former CNN anchor Campbell Brown announced that she's taking her two Jewish sons to Israel where they "will be safer and feel more welcomed than they would be today on the Upper West Side."

https://www.foxnews.com/media/ex-cnn-anchor-bringing-sons-israel-says-safer-new-york-city

But this is really nothing new, it's just suddenly burst out of hiding. The former leader of Columbia University's pro-Israel group back in 2010-2011 wrote in the Daily Caller about how anti-Semitism was rife even then, as was Columbia's "seemingly limitless tolerance for it." Some of the latest developments following Iran's failed attack on Israel…

Apr 16, 2024
Israel is constantly being urged or threatened to "show restraint" after being attacked, as no other nation on Earth is expected to do.

Iran attacks Israel

Apr 15, 2024
Saturday evening, Iran finally made good on its years of threats and launched a direct attack on Israel, sending 185 drones and 110 missiles. Fortunately, the drones were slow-moving and between Israel's defenses and the aid of US and UK forces, they were all shot down. There was only one casualty, a seven-year-old Arab Bedouin Muslim girl who was struck on the head with shrapnel in Arad. I want it known that I am as sick and furious about that innocent little girl's senseless death as I am about the deaths of Israelis at the hands of Iran-funded terrorists.

Shocking Betrayal

Mar 26, 2024
In what can only be considered a shocking betrayal of our closest ally in the Middle East, the Biden Administration refused to veto a UN resolution demanding an unconditional ceasefire in Gaza. The resolution didn't even call for Hamas to release its hostages (who include AMERICANS) as a condition of the ceasefire.
