Celebrate and learn about the Bay and its wildlife out on the Berkeley waterfront as part of a family-focused festival.

Challenge your preconceptions about pigeons by holding one and learning from Palomacy Pigeon, a pigeon rescue organization. Observe the Bay's fish up close in a 1,500-gallon tank hosted by East Bay Regional Parks District staff. Or go for a free boat ride on a sailboat with Cal Sailing Club or on a Chinese-style dragon boat with DragonMax.

These are just a few of the activities you can take part in at exhibits hosted by more than 30 environmental nonprofits, wildlife conservation organizations, and city staff.

We'll also have live music, youth circus performers, and a variety of food vendors for you to enjoy.

Come join us on April 27 at Shorebird Park.

Enjoy food, live entertainment, and educational activities

The Bay Festival's core goal is to teach people about the Bay's ecosystem.

Learn about native wildlife and the Bay's biome with booths from Shark Stewards, River Otter Ecology, International Bird Rescue, and other organizations.

Go bird watching on a walk with Golden Gate Bird Alliance. Gain insights on marine research and the conservation efforts of native wildlife from organizations such as American Cetacean Society, and Call of the Sea.

Practice your scientific skills by viewing marine organisms under high-quality microscopes at the Shorebird Park Nature Center.

Plan your transportation to the waterfront

Please consider taking a car-free route to the waterfront. Ride your bike along the Bay Trail and use free bike valet parking, located behind Adventure Playground. Alternatively, use a shared bike or scooter, take AC Transit line 51B, or carpool with friends.

If you drive, please park in the dirt lot behind Adventure Playground, the South Cove lot east of the Cal Adventures Sailing, or the lot at the former HS Lordships Restaurant. Please do not park in the nearby L & M lots which require permits on weekends.

These events are organized by the City's Parks, Recreation, and Waterfront Department, which offers a variety of camps, classes, and activities catering to diverse age groups and socioeconomic backgrounds.
