Residents looking to make connections with firefighters and get an inside look at a fire station have an upcoming opportunity. The Jackson Fire Department Open House is happening Saturday, Oct. 5 from 1-5 p.m. at the Central Fire Station.
Firefighters are planning a fun and informative afternoon for residents. This will be an opportunity to get an inside look at the Central Fire Station and how it operates to keep the community safe. Visitors will also enjoy fire truck tours, live demonstrations, and fire safety tips. Jackson firefighters will be there to meet residents and answer questions about what it's like to be a first responder.
Deputy Fire Chief Tim Gonzales says this will be the fire department's first open house in 10 years. "Fire crews are looking forward to welcoming the community to our fire station so they can get a better understanding of what we do to keep the Jackson area safe," Gonzales said. "The event is also happening during Fire Safety Week, so this will be a great time for families to brush up on fire safety."
This event is free and open to the public. The Central Fire Station is located at 518 N. Jackson St. Parking is available behind the fire station off United Way.
