The EU Council agreed on Monday to provide 454.8 million euros in relief aid to these three countries to repair the damage and effects caused by natural disasters and earthquakes in 2022 and 2023.
Turkey will receive 400 million euros to provide assistance following the February 2023 earthquakes. Italy will receive 20.9 million euros to alleviate the effects of heavy rainfall in September 2022. Romania will receive 33.9 million euros to overcome the effects of three drought peaks between April and August 2022.
The funds will be transferred from the Solidarity and Emergency Aid Reserve of this year's EU budget.
