BOZEMAN - Montana State University students are invited to participate in two free workshops that aim to teach them skills in leading conversations and communicating with people from different cultures.
MSU, in partnership with the United Nations Association of the USA MSU, a registered student group, will host the workshops as part of the Fostering Cross-Cultural Collaboration for a Sustainable World project, which promotes engagement, sustainability and global collaboration.
The sessions will cover how leaders can foster cross-cultural communication and mutual understanding, principles and strategies of dialogue, tips and techniques for dialogue moderators, nurturing dialogue in schools and communities, and cross-cultural considerations when facilitating dialogue.
The schedule of workshops is as follows:
Both workshops are free to students, and food will be provided.
Workshop participants apply their new skills by joining international educators from the Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement program to lead a conflict resolution and dialogue workshop during the first week of October.
Participants who complete both training sessions will earn a professional development certificate from the MSU Office of International Programs.
The workshops are funded by an MSU Outreach and Engagement seed grant and are open to all MSU students. Partners include the Office of International Programs, International Education Networking Initiative, Inc.,the UNA-USA MSU Chapter and leadership coach Deidre Combs.
