West Hollywood to lift rent freeze but consider permanent reduction

The West Hollywood City Council on Monday voted to phase out the current pandemic-related freeze on rent increases on rent controlled properties by the end of this year. The city, however, will also consider tightening its rent control ordinance once rent adjustments are allowed to resume.

Under the plan approved Aug. 15, the freeze on rent increases would remain in effect for the duration of 2022, with rent increases of up to 3% being permitted in 2023.
