Higgins Calls on FEMA to Expedite Hurricane Recovery Funds for Cameron Parish

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) delivered a letter to FEMA today calling on the agency to address lingering inspections, review, and approval of Public Assistance (PA) applications for Cameron Parish.
Cameron Parish has requested reimbursement for damages totaling $52,567,049.34. However, to date, FEMA has only conducted 20 site inspections and approved $1,210,295.87 in PA reimbursements.
'FEMA should quickly review and approve PA applications from Hurricanes Laura and Delta. While recovery in the region will take years, that process cannot start until sites are inspected and evaluated. Further delays to the start of this process will require serious oversight and investigation by Congress,' wrote Congressman Higgins. 'I again urge you to address the lingering PA reimbursements and inspections for Cameron Parish. A year and several additional storms later, expediting access to existing resources should be FEMA's primary objective for victims of the 2020 Hurricane Season.'
