Rains predicted amidst heat advisory

The latest forecasts of the Met. Department issued today morning (Mar 28) predicts possible showers or thundershowers in the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, and North-western provinces after 2.00 p.m.

Several spells of showers may occur in the Eastern province while misty conditions can be expected at places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and Western provinces and the Galle and Matara districts during the morning.

Meanwhile, in a heat index advisory, the Department notifies that the temperature felt on the human body is expected to increase up to 'Caution level' at some places in the Western, North-western and North-Central provinces and in the Mannar, Vavuniya, Mullaitivu and Galle districts. It further advises people to take adequate precautions and Limit strenuous outdoor activities, find shade and stay hydrated.

Rains are also possible within the sea areas off the coast extending from Batticaloa to Galle via Hambantota. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Galle via Puttalam and Colombo during the afternoon or at night.
