Proposed name for Bulleen laneway inspired by brickmaking past

A Bulleen laneway could feature a name inspired by the area's rich brickmaking history during the 1900s.

The unnamed laneway will be formalised to provide addresses for two new properties, following a subdivision of land at 48 Templestowe Road, Bulleen. It runs parallel to Templestowe Road, between Robert and Helene streets.

We're proposing to name the laneway 'Kiln Lane', in recognition of the area's brickmaking past - previously home to the Bulleen Brickworks, located nearby on Templestowe Road.

Established by Glen Iris Bricks in the 1950s, the brickworks was taken over by Boral Bricks in 1970 before closing down in the late 1900s.

Have your say

We're now seeking community feedback on the proposed name.

Complete our feedback formby 5.00pm on Friday 31 May 2024.

The name 'Kiln Lane' complies with Victoria's naming rules for places.

All submissions will be considered before we progress the naming process and formally lodge the proposed road name with Geographic Names Victoria.

We will share the consultation outcomes with you via Your Say Manningham.
