Guest speaker Jennifer Cook, senior director of marketing at the National Cybersecurity Alliance, will give an online presentation entitled "A Whole Lotta BS (Behavioral Science) about Cybersecurity" at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12. (Register for the webinar).

"Most of us find cybersecurity frustrating," said Cook. "Thinking up long complex passwords, trying to find our phones when we need a code to log in to an account… it's a pain!  And if we believe the scary cybersecurity headlines about cyber-attacks and data breaches, none of it seems to be working. How do we make sense of it all?"

In the webinar, Cook will share new research from the National Cybersecurity Alliance that reveals insights about the public's attitudes and beliefs about security. Cook leads the development and coordination of NCA's growing suite of campaigns and programs, including Cybersecurity Awareness Month and Data Privacy Week. She joined the National Cyber Security Alliance in 2017 and holds a bachelor's degree in Marketing from Drexel University.

"We're thrilled that Jennifer Cook will share some of the latest research about cybersecurity for Cybersecurity Awareness Month," Stephen Tycer, chief information security officer, said. "The webinar will cut through the confusion to give participants easy, practical advice and tips on how to keep yourself and the U of A safe and secure online."
