Deakin's climb to 265 is its best THE World University Rankings result and continues a positive trend in recent years, with an overall increase of 68 places since 2020.
The prestigious THE index ranks universities across five performance indicators: teaching, research environment, research quality, international outlook and industry.
Deakin Vice-Chancellor Professor Iain Martin congratulated the Deakin community on its achievement.
"As we approach our 50th anniversary at the end of 2024, I am pleased that Deakin's progress and leadership continue to be recognised on a global stage. Rankings never tell the whole story but are an essential guide, and our progress shows we are on the right track," Professor Martin said.
"What we do matters to our students, our local communities, and Australia. And through our extensive community, industry and academic networks, what we do matters internationally.
"I acknowledge that so much of what has been achieved is the result of the efforts of many across our university. We have made extraordinary progress in our comparatively short life and remain focused on driving a culture of innovation, creativity and excellence while staying true to our founding values of inclusion and access to education."
