PennDOT Announces Bridge Replacement on Electric Avenue near Milroy, Mifflin County

03/19/2024

Clearfield, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced plans to begin a bridge replacement project on Route 1012 (Electric Avenue) near Milroy in Armagh Township, Mifflin County. The bridge will be closed to traffic beginning April 1, 2024, as crews replace the existing two-span steal I-beam bridge with upgraded, adjacent two-span composite box beam bridge structures. This will improve safety and ride quality for motorists traveling over the bridge.

A detour will be in place for the entirety of the project, utilizing Route 1005 and Main Street. Highway improvements, in total, are planned for approximately 500 feet of roadway, and include the removal of a noticeable hump at one end of the bridge. Construction for this project also includes paving, drainage work, curb installation, waterline relocation, sewar line relocation, guide rail installation, application of pavement markings, and miscellaneous construction. The contractor, Nestlerode Contracting Company, Inc., expects to complete all work by October 2024 on the $2 million project. All work is weather dependent.
