White House Senior Advisor Tom Perez to tour Green Bay federal housing investments with Mayor Genrich
(GREEN BAY) -Senior Advisor to President Biden and Director of the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs Tom Perez, Mayor Genrich and United Way of Brown County CEO Robyn Davis, will showcase City East Center, a three-story federally-funded affordable housing project. The $10 million project - funded in part through President Biden's American Rescue Plan Act - was built on previously vacant city-owned land and includes 43 apartments, 36 of which will be set aside for households making less than 60% of the area's median income. These units would adhere to green and universal design standards that can make buildings both more sustainable and accessible to all people, regardless of ability. The first floor in the City East building will be occupied by United Way of Brown County and serve primarily as a community gathering space made possible partly thanks to a $1 million federal grant, which came from an omnibus spending bill with the help of U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin's office.
In addition, Director Perez will be touring the location of the Coal Piles, which will be moved to create a mixed-use development with support from the federal government and Governor Evers.
