Seyran Ohanyan: This Regional Tense Situation Should Be in the Centre of Attention Not Only of Armenia and Artsakh, But Also the International Community

I welcome and highlight your visit to Armenia during such difficult period for us. What happened during the period of the last two years in the Republic of Armenia and in the region, contain many problems and interests. This regional tense situation should be in the centre of attention not only of Armenia and Artsakh, but also the international community. Changes of balance and political forces took place in the region: an aggression occurred towards Armenia and Artsakh. However, the most dangerous thing is that they try to falsify the whole history of the regional conflict, presenting the Armenian people as aggressors. The Head of the RA NA Armenia Faction, the Head of the RA NA Armenia-Slovenia Friendship Group Seyran Ohanyan said about this at the meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Slovenia to the Republic of Armenia Tomaz Mencin.

Seyran Ohanyan noted that the members of Armenia-Slovenia Friendship Group congratulated Dean Premik on the occasion of being elected Head of Slovenia-Armenia Friendship Group. He expressed conviction that the cooperation at parliamentary level will continue to strengthen in the near future, and all efforts will be made to promote the deepening of bilateral relations.

Thanking Seyran Ohanyan for the warm reception, the Ambassador Tomaz Mencin underlined the necessity of deepening the cooperation, and the close cooperation of the Friendship Groups formed in parliaments also will promote.

The Ambassador informed that within the framework of the visit meetings are scheduled with the representatives of a number of departments, Ambassadors, as well as the visit to Jermuk to get acquainted with the situation on the spot.

Seyran Ohanyan presented in detail the history of the Karabakh conflict and the security situation created after the 44-day war unleashed by Azerbaijan in 2020. He also touched upon the Azerbaijani last large-scale aggression towards the sovereign territory of Armenia.

Highlighting the role of the Observation missions in the conflicts, the Head of the Friendship Group noted that the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement should go on with the OSCE Minsk Group Chairmanship.

The sides referred to the role of the CSTO and the issues on the establishment of the democratic system in Armenia.

Agreements were reached to establish video call with the heads of the Friendship Groups of parliaments of the two countries in January 2023, as well as to organize also mutual visits.

The meeting took place on December 8, where the member of the RA NA Armenia-Slovenia Friendship Group, the deputy of the RA NA Armenia Faction Aregnaz Manukyan also took part.
