City Awarded GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award

October 26, 2023 - The City of Davenport's Finance Department recently received the Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. This marks the 29th consecutive year that the City has received this significant recognition.

The GFOA's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award program aims to inspire and support local governments in crafting budget documents of the utmost quality. These documents are expected to align with the guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and incorporate the GFOA's best budgeting practices. This award is a testament to the unwavering dedication of the City's Finance Department and its staff to uphold the highest standards in governmental budgeting.

"The City of Davenport is proud that our Finance Department has been once again recognized with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award," said Mayor Mike Matson. "This award recognizes the tremendous amount of work our staff contributes each year to the preparation of our City budget."

The City met nationally recognized standards for effective budget presentation. These standards encompass presenting the budget document as a policy statement, a financial plan, an operational guide, a performance assessment tool, and a strategic plan.

The Finance Department would like to recognize the Mayor and City Council for establishing sound financial and budgeting policies that have been affirmed by the bond rating agencies as well as all City of Davenport departments for contributing in significant ways to help achieve this award.
