Boise Depot Centennial Celebration Set for April 2025

April 16, 2024

On Wednesday, April 16, 2025, the Boise Depot turns 100 years old. The beloved Spanish-style landmark opened to the public on April 16, 1925. The City of Boise plans to host a variety of public events next year to celebrate the building's history and enduring legacy leading up to the Boise Depot Centennial.

"The Boise Depot is one of our most treasured community spaces," said Mayor Lauren McLean. "The building and grounds hold memories for so many, from those who entered the Depot's doors to eventually board a passenger train, to those who have celebrated a wedding or special occasion on site. We look forward to celebrating all this iconic building means to Boise."

MARK YOUR CALENDAR

While the full schedule of events is still in the planning stages, the official community celebration is expected to start the weekend of April 12, 2025, and continue through the 100th anniversary date of Wednesday, April 16, 2025. Departments from across the city are working together to plan insightful, engaging and informative opportunities for residents and visitors to experience the Boise Depot and learn about its storied history in the City of Trees. Additional partnerships, artist calls and entertainment opportunities will be announced as plans are determined.

RECALLING BOISE DEPOT MEMORIES

One of the goals of the Boise Depot Centennial is to continue to preserve and provide public access to individual and collective memories, records, and artifacts tied to the Boise historical landmark. While plans to contribute to this larger storytelling effort are still underway, Boiseans with lived experiences and/or physical ephemera telling aspects of the Boise Depot's history will be invited to share them with the City of Boise. Look for an announcement this summer!
