DLA’s director of logistics operations visits DLA Distribution

Navy Rear Adm. Joseph "Doug" Noble, director, Defense Logistics Agency Logistics Operations, visited DLA Distribution Headquarters in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, and toured the facilities at DLA Distribution Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, May 8.

During his visit Noble engaged with DLA Distribution leadership and staff, discussing topics including the Warehouse Execution System, Warehouse Management System implementation, and warehouse modernization and utilization.

"The work that is done here is very important and you always deliver," said Noble. "No matter what is happening in the world you never miss a beat supporting the warfighter. Thank you for all you do for our nation."

Perry Knight, deputy commander, DLA Distribution, facilitated the discussion providing updates on key initiatives and highlighting challenges facing the command.

"These types of discussions underscore the critical role of collaboration and communication in our operations," said Knight. "It helps us sharpen our focus on continuous improvement and gain support on key initiatives that will help us remain at the forefront of global logistics excellence."

Noble also received a demonstration of applications within Qlik, a web-based tool providing a unified operational picture to DLA Distribution personnel. These applications collect data from WMS and legacy systems to monitor network health and daily production.

Prior to touring the Eastern Distribution Center, team members expressed their gratitude for Noble's support during his tenure at DLA by manning the rails in the facilities' foyer. He received an update on modernization efforts and observed ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing throughput capabilities.

Before he departed the headquarters, Noble presented a two-star note and coin to the Network Process Management Directorate for their hard work and dedication in the deployment of DLA's Warehouse Management System. Paul Abel, director, accepted the recognition on behalf of his team.

Noble also presented coins to the following DLA Distribution staff:
