CBP Announces the Addition of I-94 Features to CBP One Mobile App

WASHINGTON - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced today that I-94 applications can now be filed through the CBP One mobile application in order to better facilitate international travel into the United States.

The CBP One I-94 form features provide a mobile app version of CBP's I-94 website, providing a more convenient way for travelers to apply for an I-94 up to seven days prior to arrival, review their past travel history, check their I-94 expiration date and obtain proof of their electronic I-94 from their mobile device.

The Form I-94 is the record of arrival and departure issued to all persons entering the United States except U.S. citizens, returning foreign visitors, foreign visitors with immigrant visas, and most Canadian citizens who are visiting or transiting through the United States. Foreign visitors can also use the form to adjust their status or extend their stay while in the United States but must depart the United States on or before the departure date indicated on their I-94. Those who must prove their legal-visitor status to employers, schools/universities or government agencies can access their CBP arrival/departure record information from CBP One or the I-94 website.

To further streamline the I-94 process at the land borders, CBP will no longer print the I-94 stub at the land ports of entry, saving additional time for the traveler. More information about Form I-94 is available here. Air and sea travelers, who are issued automated I-94s during the admission process at the port of entry, can also use the app to check their travel history, I-94 expiration date, and obtain proof of their electronic I-94.

'The CBP One I-94 features are intended to save foreign travelers time and streamline their processing at ports of entry on the northern and southern land borders,' said William Ferrara, CBP Executive Assistant Commissioner for Field Operations. 'The app advances CBP's mission to facilitate lawful travel into the United States and demonstrates our commitment to creating the most innovative travel process that is secure, straightforward, and efficient.'

Launched on Oct. 28, 2020, CBP One is a mobile application that serves as a single point of entry for travelers and stakeholders to access CBP mobile applications and services. Through a series of intuitive questions, it will guide each type of user to the appropriate services based on their needs.

CBP One App can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play. The cost of applying for an I-94 using the mobile app is $6 USD, which is the same cost as applying on the I-94 website or upon arrival at a land port of entry.

Although having an approved ESTA is not a requirement to enter the United States via the land border, citizens and nationals of Visa Waiver Program countries must have an active ESTA to use the CBP OneTM I-94 Apply feature. CBP encourages these travelers to obtain an approved ESTA to take advantage of the time savings offered by using CBP OneTM or the CBP I-94 website. With an ESTA, these travelers can apply for their I-94 in advance of arrival and avoid filling out the Form I-94W at a port of entry.

The temporary restrictions on non-essential travel across the U.S. northern and southern borders remain in effect until at least June 21, 2021, to prevent the further spread of COVID-19. More information about the travel restrictions is available here.
