Ukrainians of Colorado President Marina Dubrova to Join Bennet at State of the Union

March 06, 2024

Washington, D.C. - Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet announced that Marina Dubrova will join him as his guest at President Biden's State of the Union address on Thursday, March 7th.

Dubrova is the President of Ukrainians of Colorado, a non-profit organization founded in 2014 to unite Coloradans and raise awareness for Ukraine's cause following Vladimir Putin's initial invasion of Crimea. The organization provides emergency relief, including medical supplies and aid, to orphanages and schools, and has been instrumental in helping refugees from Ukraine find housing and employment in Colorado. Their work has become more critical since Russia's 2022 illegal invasion of Ukraine.

"When Putin attacked Ukraine two years ago, Colorado rallied to Ukraine's side, and organizations like Ukrainians for Colorado stepped up to provide assistance and welcome the refugees that settled in our state," said Bennet. "The Ukrainian people have fought courageously for their sovereignty, their freedom, and their democracy. The Senate has done its job to support them, now the House must follow. I'm honored Marina will join me for the President's address to send a signal that our work is not done."

"Ukrainians of Colorado personally thanks Senator Bennet for all of his efforts and support, and for the work he does for Ukraine. We look forward to continuing to work with Senator Bennet to advance our mission to help Ukraine as much as we can and for as long as it takes," said Dubrova.

Over the past two years, Bennet has staunchly supported the Ukrainian people in their fight to defend their democracy against Russian aggression and has worked in Congress to pass bipartisan legislation to provide Ukraine with much-needed weapons and ammunition. Last month, Bennet traveled to Ukraine alongside U.S. Senators Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), Jack Reed (D-R.I.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), and Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.) and met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the second anniversary of Russia's invasion.
