Traffic Closure Notices

C Avenue NE Lane Reductions
Effective Tues, March 28, C Avenue NE will be reduced to one lane each direction between Huntington Ridge Road and Berkshire Drive for curb ramp repairs. Work is expected to take one (1) week.

29th Street Drive SE Bridge Closed

Starting on Monday, March 27, the bridge located on 29^th Street Drive SE over Indian Creek will be closed for maintenance and repairs. Areas east along 30^th Street Drive SE will have detour signs posted in advance to use Highway 100, East Post Road, and 1^st Avenue East. Work is expected to last one (1) month.

32nd Street NE Closed

Starting on Monday, March 27, 2023, the Glass Road/32nd Street NE bridge will be closed for repairs. I-380 access westbound 32^nd Street NE and Glass Road Bridge over the railroad will be impacted during this time. Detours will be posted to use 29^th Street NE to access 380. Work is expected to last one (1) month.

Edgewood Road SW Lane Reduction

Effective Monday, March 27, northbound Edgewood Road SW will be reduced to one lane between 16^th Avenue SW and 1^st Avenue W for utility work. Work is expected to take three (3) days.

6th Street SW Intersection Closure
Starting on Tuesday, March 21, the intersection of 6^th Street and Commerce Park Drive SW will be closed for reconstruction. Work is expected to last three (3) months. Detours will be posted.

33rd Avenue SW Lane Reductions
Effective immediately, Thursday, March 16, 33^rd Avenue SW is reduced to one lane each direction between 12^th Street and 18^th Street for pavement repairs. Work is expected to two (2) weeks.

8th Avenue SE Traffic Pattern Changes This Week for Mercy Skywalk Construction

Beginning Monday, March 13, work will continue on the construction of a skywalk across 8^th Avenue SE for Mercy Medical Center. Multiple closures on 8^th Avenue SE between 8^th Street and 14^th Street will take place over a 3-week period. All traffic on 8^th Avenue SE between 8^th Street and 14^th Street will be shifted to the two eastbound lanes, with one lane in each direction. Additionally, the following movements will be restricted:

Mercy Hospital emergency room access on 8^th Avenue will remain open. Access from southbound 10^th Street SE to westbound 8^th Avenue will be open for drivers headed to the emergency room and emergency vehicle use only. An opening will be maintained across the existing median to allow emergency room access from both directions on 8^th Avenue SE.

5th Avenue SW Lane Closure

Effective Wednesday, March 15, 5^th Avenue SW will be closed to westbound traffic between 6^th Street and 7^th Street for water and sewer utility connection. Work is expected to take ten (10) days. Westbound traffic to follow posted detour, or seek an alternate route.

1st Street SE Lane Reduction for Storm Sewer Project

Starting today, Monday, February 27th, 1^st Street SE will be reduced to one northbound lane between 6^th Avenue and 5^th Avenue for storm sewer replacement . Work between 5^th Avenue and 6^th Avenue is expected last three (3) months.

This storm sewer project is part of the City Flood Control System. The 1^st Street SE Drainage from 5^th Street to 7^th St Improvements project will include the construction of a mainline storm sewer along 7^th Avenue and 1^st Street, which will convey runoff.

Tower Terrace Road NE Open

Tower Terrace Road NE now has two lanes of traffic open from Miller Road east to North Center Point Road. Drivers should use caution along the entire length of roadway due to continued construction. There will be lane shifts on both ends of the project to bring drivers into the eastbound lanes for 2-way traffic. This is required, as the new south interchange bridge is not completed. The speed limit will be 25 MPH until all construction is complete.

Please note that there is NO interstate access from Tower Terrace Road until spring 2023.

Traffic on Tower Terrace Road may experience some delays due to continued construction. All work is anticipated to last until spring or early summer 2023, weather pending.

12th Avenue Bridge Closure and Trail Detour

Effective Friday, September 30, the Cedar River Trail will be closed along the east side of the river between 8thAvenue and 16thAvenue SE, and will be temporarily detoured to 2ndStreet SE. Additionally, effective Tuesday, October 4, the 12^th Avenue Bridge over the Cedar River will be closed to all traffic between 2^nd Street SE and C Street SW for permanent flood control construction. Both will be effective until the spring of 2023.

1st Avenue W Traffic Impact Updates

This phase of permanent flood control construction includes relocating the 1st Avenue and 1st Street W intersection approximately 25 feet to the west to accommodate a future flood gate across 1st Avenue W. Additionally, 1st Street SW will be relocated westward, and 1st Street NW will be elevated over the top of the flood control system.
