Deputy Minister of National Defence Nikolaos Chardalias Represents Government at Celebration of the Patron Saint of the Army, Great Martyr Saint George, at the Infantry School

On Sunday, 23 April 2023, the Deputy Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikolaos Chardalias, attended as representative of the Prime Minister the ceremony to celebrate the Great Martyr Saint George, Patron Saint of the Army, which took place at the Infantry School in Halkis, accompanied by the Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Konstantinos Floros.

Within the framework of the ceremony, the Deputy Minister of National Defence attended the Doxology at the Church of Saint George and laid a wreath at the Fallen Officers' and Soldiers' Memorial of the 3rdInfantry Regiment during the 1912-1913 period. Mr. Chardalias was then given a tour of the static weapon systems and assets display at the School forecourt.

The ceremony was attended by the MP for Evia, Mr. Symeon Kedikoglou, His Eminence, the Metropolitan of Halkis, Mr. Chrysostomos, and the Deputy Head of Region for the Regional Unit of Evia, Mr. Giorgos Kelaiditis.

The political parties in Parliament were represented by the Honorary Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, General Georgios Kambas(ret.) (SYRIZA), Lieutenant General (HAF) Thomas Hatziathanasiou(ret.) (PASOK-KINAL), and MP candidate for Evia Mr. Vasilios Armonis(ELLINIKI LYSI).

The ceremony was also attended by the Chiefs of Hellenic Air Force General Staff, Lieutenant General (HAF) Themistoklis Bourolias, Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Angelos Choudeloudis, Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Ioannis DrymousisHN, and the Hellenic Coast Guard, Vice Admiral Georgios AlexandrakisCG, Honorary Chiefs of Hellenic Army General Staff, the President of the Court Martial Appeal Court, Lieutenant General Theodoros Papakostas, general and senior retired Army officers, as well as a delegation of Armed and Security Forces officers.
