SAN ANTONIO (May 17, 2021) - Imagine coming into work every morning and finding a taped-up box or dirty laundry basket full of newborn kittens. The lucky ones are reasonably healthy and crying for food. Unfortunately, they're often covered in fleas and barely alive. Just as many are brought in by residents who found the litters abandoned. It can be an everyday reality for staff at our community's animal shelters, including Animal Care Services. The growing influx of kittens is maxing out resources at the shelter and fosters are urgently needed today to take in little ones who need a time (and love) to become adoption ready. The ACS foster program provides complimentary food, supplies and medical care for the kittens. While the shelter has kittens of all ages and conditions in need, fosters for bottle fed kittens or 'bottle babies' are especially needed right now. Residents interested in becoming an ACS foster can find out more about the program on the ACS website at saacs.net or head to straight to the sign-up form online at saacs.info/foster.
