Council commits support for Cairns Amateurs

Council has endorsed the transfer of $225,000 in sponsorship to the Cairns Jockey Club Inc to help deliver the next three Cairns Amateurs Carnival events.

At the Ordinary Meeting on 21 December 2023, Council unanimously endorsed Major Events Sponsorship to the Far North Queensland Amateur Turf Club Inc (FNQATC) to the value of up to $225,000 over three years to support the Cairns Amateurs Carnival from 2024 to 2026.

However, with the operations of the Cairns Amateurs Carnival transitions to the Cairns Jockey Club Inc (CJC) this year, under the direction of a new Steering Committee, a formal transfer of the Council funding agreement was required.
