Municipal Election Petitions for Candidacy Available Tuesday, August 23

Filing Period for Packets Begins November 21, 2022

Beginning Tuesday, August 23, 2022, petitions for candidacy for the 2023 Naperville municipal election are available in the Community Services Department at the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St. Petitions may begin being circulated for signature on Tuesday, August 30, 2022.

Up for election in 2023 are the four-year position of Mayor and the four-year terms of four City Council positions. To qualify as a candidate, you must be a registered voter of the City of Naperville and have resided within the corporate limits of the City for at least one year. Petitions for nomination are filed with the Community Services Department. The filing period will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2022, through Monday, November 28, 2022, excluding weekend days; the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, November 24; and the day after Thanksgiving on Friday, November 25.

A Consolidated Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, if more than four candidates file for any one office, or if there are more than 16 candidates for Council or four candidates for Mayor. The Consolidated Election will take place on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.
