The Chamber Welcomes Two New Strategic Leaders

PHILADELPHIA, PA - April 16, 2024 - Jason Bannon joins the Chamber as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications; Shannon Williams will serve as Senior Vice President of Advocacy.

The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia (the Chamber) today announced the addition of Jason Bannon as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications and Shannon Williams as Senior Vice President of Advocacy. Aligned with the Chamber's strategic plan and vision, Bannon will lead efforts to amplify the impact of business in the region, while Williams spearhead initiatives to advocate for a competitive business climate.

Bannon brings more than 20 years of brand marketing experience in for-profit and non-profit businesses to the Chamber. A Temple graduate and native to Greater Philadelphia, Bannon most recently led marketing and communications for Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania, supporting the growth of Greater Philadelphia's tech, life sciences, and innovation communities. His previous experience includes roles with Peanuts Worldwide (Snoopy), and various roles supporting brands including MetLife, Lord & Taylor, DoubleClick, Comcast, and more. Williams brings nearly 15 years of experience in the public policy and not-for-profit sectors to the Chamber. Most recently, Williams worked for the Children's Defense Fund as the Director of Leadership Development, Organizing and Advocacy Campaign Strategy. A native of the Greater Philadelphia region, she started her career at the Urban League of Philadelphia where she served as Director of Policy and Advocacy. Other previous experience includes roles with Equal Rights Advocates, DDC Public Affairs, and the Black Church Center for Justice and Equality. Williams holds a bachelor's in political science from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and a law degree from Appalachian School of Law.She will begin her new role on Monday, April 22, 2024.

In 2023, the Chamber's Executive Committee approved a five-year strategic plan, Chamber 2028: Amplify. Advocate. Grow. Central to the five-year plan is the Chamber's vision : the Greater Philadelphia region is a top global destination for business and a leader in inclusive growth. Three enduring strategic priorities guide Chamber 2028:

  • Amplify the impact of business in the region;
  • Advocate for a competitive business climate, and;
  • Grow a vibrant and diverse business community.
