State Trooper Injured In Cruiser Crash

BARTLETT, N.H. - An on-duty New Hampshire State Police Trooper was involved in a single-car crash Thursday morning, May 2, 2024, on Route 302 in the town of Bartlett.

The crash occurred at 3:20 a.m. while the Trooper was traveling eastbound when, for reasons that remain under investigation, the cruiser went off the shoulder of the road and struck a utility pole, bringing down utility wires. The Trooper was able to self-request help.

Members of the Bartlett Fire Department, Bartlett Police Department, State Police, and utility crews responded to the scene. Upon the arrival of first responders and utility crews, and after power lines were turned off, the Trooper was able to safely exit the crashed cruiser. The Trooper was then transported by ambulance to Memorial Hospital in North Conway for evaluation of non-life-threatening injuries and later released.

The Trooper involved in the crash is identified as Sgt. Nathan Johnston, a 20-year veteran of the State Police.

Traffic in the area of the crash scene will be intermittently impacted for several hours as crews repair the utility pole.
