Seminar “Brazil-Africa: New bridges over the river called the Atlantic”

On May 22nd and 23rd, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Alexandre de Gusmão Foundation will hold the seminar "Brazil-Africa: New bridges over the river called the Atlantic".

Organized on the occasion of celebrations of Africa Day, May 25th, the event takes place in the context of the renewed priority given by the Brazilian foreign policy to relations with African countries.

The opening session will pay tribute to Ambassador Alberto da Costa e Silva, who passed away last year. With his extensive and invaluable contributions to diplomacy and historiography on Africa, Costa e Silva was a pivotal figure in Brazil's relations with the continent.

The seminar's agenda will feature panels on climate change and energy transition, shifts in the structure of global governance, combating hunger and inequality, as well as topics related to the African diaspora.

The seminar will be attended by government officials and representatives from international organizations, as well as scholars and social movement leaders from both Brazil and abroad.
