Warrumbungle Community Care Finalists in 2024 NSW Local Government Excellence Awards

Warrumbungle Community Care (WCC) has again been chosen as a finalist in NSW Local Government Excellence Awards, this time for its work in partnering with various organisations to bring more support services to the Warrumbungle community.

"WCC have been shortlisted in the Community Partnerships - Population Under 150,000 category with the winners and highly commended to be announced on Thursday 6 June 2024." said Warrumbungle Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Ambrose Doolan. "The 2024 NSW Local Government Excellence Awards Community Partnerships award recognises genuine and effective working relationships between council and community members/community groups, to provide or improve services for the benefit of the wider community."

"The team at Warrumbungle Community Care has been outstanding with the initiative focusing on connecting communities and growing partnerships. The goal has been to maintain strong connections, empower individuals to maintain their independence, manage their health and safety, and fulfil their cultural and social needs", said Cr Doolan.

"WCC collaborated with various stakeholders to share information within the local community providing a range of high-quality services to our most vulnerable residents, the elderly. The aim was to also empower them to advocate for themselves and their needs through knowledge sharing and connection building. Information Days partnering with different organisations such as Open Mobility and Seniors Rights were held regularly in each town within the Shire while two larger Community Expos were held in Dunedoo and Coonabarabran to provide a broad scope of information to residents," Cr Doolan explained.

"It is so wonderful to see this service making continual improvements to their programs, and their commitment to stay connected with our communities by partnering with other service providers highlights these effective working relationships that improve services for the benefit of all," concluded Cr Doolan.
