Transit Services Announces Launch of New Mid-Day Service on 51 Connector Route

FREDERICK, MD - Transit Services is excited to announce the launch of mid-day service on the 51 Connector route starting July 1. The new service will operate every 30 minutes from 9:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., giving riders more flexibility in their travel choices throughout the day.

The addition of the mid-day 51 Connector service comes after the successful launch of similar mid-day enhancements on the 40 Connector route in April. Since then, the Golden Mile Connector has seen a significant increase in ridership compared to the prior month and provides additional trips at times when ridership is at its highest.

"We are excited to expand our mid-day service along the Golden Mile," Frederick County Executive Jessica Fitzwater said. "Our pilot program was so popular that some buses offered standing-room only. Adjusting Transit's 51 Connector times is an example of letting data drive our decisions to meet the needs of our community."

"We are thrilled to build on the success of the 40 Connector mid-day service by expanding mid-day options to riders of the 51 Connector," said Transit Services Director Roman Steichen. "Our focus is improving the customer experience by providing more frequent service when, and where, people need it most."

The launch highlights Transit Services' commitment to increasing accessibility and mobility in Frederick County. Adding more mid-day trips allows riders to take the bus for shopping, appointments, and other needs outside of traditional commuting hours.
