Service Level Update: Tree Permitting and Tree Hotline

August 10, 2022 - Urban Forestry is experiencing an increased volume of permit applications. Turnaround time for a permit decision notice is 6 to 8 weeks from application intake

• Responses to emails sent to [email protected] and voicemail inquiries to 823-TREE(8733) are within three business days.

• Due to current heavy permit volumes, Urban Forestry response times are estimated as follows:

  • 1 week for a tree permit decision for applications without a site inspection

  • 6 to 8 weeks for tree permit decision for applications requiring an inspection

If you would like to check the status of your permit application please follow the instructions below:

1. Go to the Portland Maps Permit/Case Search website at https://www.portlandmaps.com/advanced/?action=permits
2. Type in the address and hit "Submit"
3. Click on the applicable permit/case number
4. The permit status is listed under "Status"

A "status" that indicates "Application" means that the permit is still in the queue to be inspected.
