Minister of Planning and Investment receives NVIDIA Vice President

(MPI) - Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung hosted a reception in Hanoi on April 22 for Keith Strier, Vice President of the US chip manufacture NVIDIA.

Minister Dung briefed his guests about Vietnam's development strategy for the semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) industries, the project on human resource development in the semiconductor industry, the business and investment climate, and the country's incentives and policies to encourage hi-tech, semiconductor and AI projects in Vietnam.

After the meeting, the NVIDIA delegation visited the National Innovation Center at Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park (NIC Hoa Lac), and is scheduled to work with a number of Vietnamese ministries, agencies, localities and businesses.

In December last year, NVIDIA President and CEO Jensen Huang paid a working visit to Vietnam. At the roundtable discussion on "Semiconductor, Artificial Intelligence (AI) trends and opportunities for Vietnam", which was co-organised by the MPI's NIC and NVIDIA, he spoke highly of Vietnam's potential and opportunities in developing the semiconductor and AI industries, especially the country's human resources in this field.

Jensen underlined that AI poises to ride a new wave and is bigger than PCs, Internet and cloud computing, and will revolutionise every industry. Building a culture focused on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) activities, a talent pipeline of software engineers, a strong IT infrastructure and a high determination of the Government to transform the country based on technology, Vietnam is prepared for the AI development wave. He said, NVIDIA is committed to making Vietnam its second home and largest AI and innovation hub./.
