Welsh Water supports MacMillan Coffee Morning

As well as the venue, Welsh Water provided the refreshments for the morning held by Julie Morgan MS Deputy Minister for Social Services, so every penny raised on the day will go to help support people fighting cancer.

The event on Friday, 29th September, raised £689.70 for MacMillan Cancer Support, marks the 23rd annual coffee morning organised by Julie, adding to the more than £20,000 she has raised for the charity over the years.

Julie Morgan, Member of the Senedd for Cardiff North, said:"I am very grateful to everyone at Welsh Water and the visitor centre at Llanishen and Lisvane reservoirs for hosting my 23rd annual Macmillan coffee morning. Their generous donation of all refreshments meant that every penny raised has gone straight to Macmillan.

"Having the coffee morning against the stunning backdrop of the reservoirs added something really special to this year's event, and it provided the opportunity for those yet to visit the reservoirs a chance to see them in all their glory.

"Over the past 23 years I have now raised almost £21,000 for Macmillan. Cancer will affect every single person during their lives, either directly or indirectly, so the work that Macmillan does is invaluable."

Claire Roberts, Head of Community Engagement from Welsh Water said:"We were delighted to support the MacMillan Coffee Morning to raise much-needed money for such a vital cause. The event is a great example of how the new facility can be used for community events and we look forward to hosting similar events in future."

"It's also allowed us to welcome more people to the reservoirs to see the fantastic facilities available, from the café and conference rooms to accessible bird hides and nature trail, not to mention water activities, such as paddleboarding."
