Bridge Maintenance Next Week in Greene, Washington, and Westmoreland Counties

Uniontown, PA - Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that bridge maintenance will begin Tuesday, April 23, in Greene, Washington, and Westmoreland counties. Bridge bearing, scupper, seal flushing and cleaning is anticipated through Friday, April 26, depending on weather and operations.

Overnight, single-lane restrictions will be in place daily, 9:00 PM-6:00 AM, at the following locations:

Greene County

  • Route 79 over Route 221 in Washington Township.
  • Route 79 over Dunkard Creek in Perry Township.

Washington County

  • Route 19 (Washington Road) over Little Chartiers Creek between Route 1023 (McClelland Road) and Route 1053 (Waterdam Road) in Peters Township.
  • Route 70 over Route 88 (Pennsylvania Avenue) between Exit 40 (Charleroi/Allenport) and Exit 41 (Belle Vernon/Monessen) in Fallowfield Township.
  • Route 79 over Route 1002 (McMurray Road) between Exit 45 (Canonsburg) and Exit 48 (Southpointe/Hendersonville) in North Strabane Township.
  • Route 70 over Route 4051 (Caldwell Avenue) between Exit 15 (Chestnut Street) and Exit 16 (Jessup Place) in Canton Township.
  • Route 79 over Vance Station Road, south junction interchange flyover ramp, in South Strabane Township.

Westmoreland County

  • Route 70 over Youghiogheny River between Exit 46 (Route 51 Pittsburgh) and Exit 49 (Smithton) in South Huntingdon Township.

Green Acres Contracting will be conducting the operations as part of a $375,000 project for bridge preservation on state roads throughout PennDOT District 12's Fayette, Greene, Washington, and Westmoreland counties.

Exercise caution while approaching the work zone. Remain alert and follow the posted signs and speed limits. Safety is everyone's responsibility.
