Deadline extended to complete Regional Landholder survey

08 May 2024

Landholders wanting to have input into the programs and projects that are delivered by Western Local Land Services now have a greater opportunity to, with the deadline to complete the Regional Landholder survey extended to 7 June.

The survey, which opened in March and has been undertaken previously in 2014, 2017 and 2020, provides valuable data of the current priorities of landholders, while also identifying regional trends by building on results from previous surveys.

Some of the interesting findings from the 2020 survey include:

  • 15,000 hectares - average property size
  • 340 km -average distance to the closest market for farm products
  • 88 % - of landholders experienced issues with pest animals.

The survey is wide-reaching and covers issues including pest animals, drought and seasonal conditions, land use, land type, property size and access to markets.

All answers from the surveys are pooled so information remains confidential.

The Regional Landholder Survey can be completed online via secure link.

Landholders who submit a survey will also be supporting the Royal Flying Doctor Service with Local Land Services to make a donation for each survey completed.

In addition to the Regional Landholder survey, Western Local Land Services has a second survey open for the Aboriginal community, with its results to help shape the programs and projects that are delivered, as well as identify trends from previous survey results.

Both surveys take approximately 60 minutes to complete.

Landholders or Aboriginal community members that have any questions can contact Sam Field on 0427 256 501 or [email protected].
