Serve on a City board or commission!

The City Council has opened their bi-annual recruitment to fill vacancies on City board and commissions. This is a great opportunity to make your voice heard and take a more active role in your community! All applicants must be registered voters and a Longmont resident for at least one year prior to being appointed. Applications must be submitted by 5 pm on Friday, April 19. Free Seed Library

Gardening doesn't have to be expensive. Now is your chance to (re)discover the joys of digging in the dirt and growing your own food by grabbing up to six seed packets from the Longmont Library's Free Seed Library, located in the West Atrium! Work for Longmont Recreation

Visit the Recreation Services job information booth from 4-6 pm on Wednesday, April 10 in the lobby of the Recreation Center, 310 Quail Road. Learn about the variety of openings, have your questions answered, and apply for your summer job! Positions starting at $16.43/hr for ages 15 years and older include sports officials, lifeguards, concessionaires, day camp leaders, custodians and more. Stories from Transgender, Non-Binary Leaders

This Thursday, April 11 at 7 pm at the Longmont Museum, Motus Theater presents transgender and non-binary leaders sharing artfully crafted personal stories about their hopes, dreams and experiences negotiating oppression and liberation with live musical accompaniment. Volunteer for Downtown Clean & Green

Start your weekend off by helping spruce up Downtown on Saturday, April 20 from 8-11 am. The Longmont Downtown Development Authority is seeking volunteers to assist with cleaning out tree grates on Main Street and alley and breezeway maintenance. Tasty food and a t-shirt provided. Crime-Free Housing training

The next Longmont Crime Free Housing Program training has been scheduled for 9 am-5 pm on Wednesday, May 22 at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Ave. The Crime Free Housing Program is a free class designed to help rental property owners and managers keep illegal activity off property. The purpose is to educate the owners and their residents to improve the quality of life in these neighborhoods by reducing crime. To register, visit our website.

Keep busy and active this summer! Recreation & Golf Services' 2024 summer activities brochure can be viewed online now at the Recreation website and print copies are being mailed to Longmont residents this week. Registration is ongoing. The summer brochure features classes, camps and special events that occur between May and August. For registration assistance, call 303-774-4700.

Stay safe - call before you dig!

Spring is a popular time to dig into yard work and construction projects … but if you're not careful, you could dig right into a utility line! Remember, Colorado law requires you to call 811 at least three business days before you do any excavation work, so that all utilities in the area can be notified and mark their lines with paint or flags. Breaking a utility line can be expensive and even dangerous for services like power or gas lines, so always remember to call before you dig! Spring branch collection

The City of Longmont offers a FREE curbside collection of tree branches each spring. Branches must be placed curbside before 7 am on the MONDAY of your scheduled collection week and remain at the curb until picked up. Citywide branch collection runs from April 1-5 for residences north of 9th Avenue and from April 8-12 for areas south of 9th Avenue.
