NOTICE TO THE BUSINESSES AND RESIDENTS OF PALOS VERDES ESTATES

Palos Verdes Estates is located in a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone (VHFHS). This requires the City to meet the County of Los Angeles' (County) current fire code. Compliance includes clearing weeds and brush within unimproved City Parklands to create fire breaks (Defendable Space) adjacent to developed property/structures.

The City of Palos Verdes Estates has contracted Oakridge Landscape, Inc. to complete the PVE Fire Safety Weed abatement Project, City Project No. PW-688-21. The work consists of trimming and removing vegetation in the public Parklands citywide following the Los Angeles County Fire Department standards which require 200 feet of defendable space from structures. All fuel within the public areas, including trees and encroaching non-native and unapproved landscapes, are included for trimming or removal.

The first year of the contract in FY/2021, work will be performed between the dates of December 1, 2021, and April 1, 2022, weather and conditions permitting. Thereafter, the contract start date will be May 1st through November 1st, 2022, weather and conditions permitting. Normal working hours will be between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. Monday through Friday.

There may be "No Parking Signs" posted on your street indicating the specific dates work will be performed in the Parklands and public paths. Parking restrictions will be posted 48 hours prior to the work being performed. During the time we are working, access to paths and Parklands may be limited, but residential traffic should not be affected. During working hours, we ask the following:

1. Please assist us by not parking your vehicles in the roadway where posted.

2. Please assist us by closing widows and doors in the home to reduce air borne debris entering when the work is being performed.

We regret any inconvenience that this work may cause you and thank you for your cooperation in assisting us improve your Fire Safety.

Thank you.
