BPC’s J. Ronald Terwilliger Center for Housing Policy Welcomes Sen. Moran, Rep. Bonamici to Its Honorary Congressional Council

Washington, DC - BPC's J. Ronald Terwilliger Center for Housing Policy is pleased to announce the addition of Sen. Jerry Moran (R-KS) and Rep. SuzanneBonamici (D-OR) to its Honorary Congressional Council.

"We are grateful to Sen. Moran and Rep. Bonamici for their willingness to team up with BPC by joining the Honorary Congressional Council," said Dennis Shea, executive director of the center. "Their leadership, experience, and insights will be invaluable as we continue to press for meaningful, bipartisan solutions to our nation's housing affordability challenges."

The other members of the council are Sens. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), Tina Smith (D-MN), Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), and Todd Young (R-IN) and Reps. Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE), Andrew Garbarino (R-NY), Young Kim (R-CA), Mike Levin (D-CA), Nancy Mace (R-SC), Gregory Meeks (D-NY), Wiley Nickel (D-NC), and Beth Van Duyne (R-TX). Each member of the council is committed to championing bipartisan policies in Congress to improve housing affordability.

Sen. Jerry Moran is currently serving his third term in the Senate. Before being elected to the Senate, he served in the U.S. House of Representatives for seven terms and the Kansas State Senate for eight years, including as the majority leader for the final two years. Sen. Moran received a degree in economics from the University of Kansas and later, after spending his early career as a small-town banker, went on to receive his J.D. from the university.

Sen. Moran is the ranking member on the Veterans' Affairs Committee and serves on the Appropriations, Commerce, Science and Transportation, and Intelligence committees.

Rep. Suzanne Bonamici is serving her sixth full term, representing the 1^st Congressional District of Oregon. Prior to her election to Congress in 2012, Rep. Bonamici served as a member of the Oregon House of Representatives from 2007 to 2008, and as a member of the Oregon State Senate from 2008 to 2011. She earned a bachelor's and law degree from the University of Oregon.

In the House of Representatives, Rep. Bonamici serves on the Education and the Workforce and Science, Space, and Technology committees. She also serves as co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on Homelessness.
