25th Annual William Shaffer Trout Fishing Derby at Kiwanis Lake

York City Parks & Recreation Bureau invites residents and visitors to attend the 25th Annual William Shaffer Trout Fishing Derby. The Fishing Derby will be held at Kiwanis Lake on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, rain or shine.

The Derby is for children ages 15 and under. All children should be accompanied by an adult.

The Derby is a fun, free family event. Come early to find your spot around the lake, which will be stocked with trout.

William Shaffer was a private citizen from York County who wanted to teach City youth a recreational hobby that they could carry throughout their lifetime. His efforts evolved into the current annual Trout Fishing Derby.

This event is sponsored by York City Recreation and Parks Bureau and the Izaak Walton League York Chapter.
